Anyone who enters the contest late will still have a chance a table with random items will be available to test your bikini-making skills. Feel free to add to the table and bring anything from around your house that you would want to see be made into a bikini.

Ive always been more of a people listener, so to speak, than a people watcher. This is especially true when it comes to going out at night. Most crowds look the same to me. A bunch of people standing around, drinking, talking, some dancing its a scene Ive seen plenty of times before and it always looks about the same to me.
Im much more interested in hearing the random drunken statements yelled out throughout the evening, as the concerns for volume control and social decorum dissipate as the drinks start to flow. Thats when a persons true personality comes through, and when you experience something unique.
To honor this nightlife phenomenon, I have decided to start a regular feature Im calling Heard. Each month I will share the most noteworthy statements I have overheard while hanging out in Charlotte once the sun has gone down.
Some will be insightful. Most will probably be ridiculous. But then, thats ultimately up to you, Charlotte. Im just here to write it all down.
Bartender at The Gin Mill: They come in here the next day like, You roofied me! Yeah, or maybe it was the 18 shots you ordered.
Partygoer #1: I wonder what the most repeated word is in that crowd right now. Partygoer #2: Like.
Girl at The Milestone: I dont believe in God, I believe in aliens. People saw aliens and they thought it was God.
Guy at Sewercide Mansion: If I was a rapper, Id rap like Lewis Carroll.
Yelp Charlotte is throwing another one of their great parties, and here's your chance to attend.
You ever notice how a lot of times shops and restaurants put out notice of their upcoming sales and news, but it's never all of your favorite places at the same time? Which means you have to make multiple trips to go get a discount bottle of wine, half off dog bones or buy-one get-one free somethings.
Well, next week on July 9, Yelp is presenting the chance to get a Passport to Selwyn. This weeklong event will include all the local businesses and shops that run along Selwyn Avenue. And you gotta love that, as it brings exposure to a group of shops that deserve it so.
The kick-off party will take place at FABO from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 9. You'll have the chance to meet the faces behind the local businesses, taste some of their great samples and get a goodie bag from Yelp.
Attending the party will earn you a passport for discounts to the 13 businesses located on Selwyn, including FABO, Mellow Mushroom, Salon on Selwyn and Metro Fitness Club. The deals continue through the week from July 10 t0 July 17. Discounts apply only to passport holders who attend the party, so bring a guest. The event is free, but a donation to Carolina P.A.W.S. (a network of caring citizens who want to help abandoned and abused animals) of $10 is preferred.
Register at Yelp.com to attend the shindig hurry because space is limited. All RSVPs will be confirmed by Wednesday, July 6 with an email from charlottenc@yelp.com.
On freaky Friday, July 1, The Money in Rock Hill is hosting another one of their Shock-Pop parties, and you should check out the variety of entertainment they've got in store.
As the Facebook invite says, "Come spill your drinks and lose your mind with us at our new brand of Dub Step, Electro Clash, Shock Rock parties. ...Three bars and two dance floors and enclosed patio, sexy gogo girls and live freaky performers."
Do you think you can handle it? There's only one way to find out.
The new wave electronic dance music of Astrid Haven and 2X Tha Madness kicks it up a notch. But the list of musical entertainment isn't even close to being finished. Spinning just for the dance floor are local DJs DJ FrodoFangz, DJ K03-D33N, DeeJae Hentia and DJ Pulse. The patio dance floor and bar DJs include DAN WALL, Will Love, Tony Dubz DREXELL, DJ Linoge and DJ Code.
Your head will be spinning like the DJs turntables from all the energy. A theatrical Gorelesque show, sexy gogo dancers and live performers with light and image shows will be going on throughout the night, along with special Gust Fire and Light Poi Dancers including PaTriK, Blain and Daniel performing outside.
The party is from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. . Tickets are $5/$7 for 18 and up.

A party wouldn't be complete without the hottest fashion, but throw in some 80s flair and a runway of girls in nothing but bikinis and you might earn the title "party of the week."
To kick off the holiday weekend, Earth Angel and The Chop Shop are throwing a flashback to the 1980s party with a bikini fashion show this Friday July 1.
What's a better way to try out a new bar than with drink specials, costume contests and, oh yea, hot models. Models glammed up by Ce Ce Galore and Mizz Mezz will strut their stuff in this year's hottest bikinis. While you're sipping at the bar, you can see what must-haves you're missing in your bikini wardrobe.

A $50 gift card to Earth Angel will be given out to the girl who rocks their best '80s chick costume so bring it on!
Did I mention the cover is free?! Doors open at 10 p.m.
The event is held at The Chop Shop, 399 E. 35th St. Noda.
Im standing outside Central Coffee Co., smoking a cigarette I dont want. I dont even really smoke, save the very unusual social cigarette. This seemed worthy of such an exception. I've just bummed it off a cute barista to have an excuse to talk to her.
It doesnt take long before she reveals herself as the Evangelical type, with a boyfriend to boot. Product of a religious upbringing such that I am, I instantly go half deaf, stomp out my unwanted cigarette and wait for a chance to change the subject.
And here Tom Waits had lead me to believe that you don't meet nice girls in coffee shops.
Finally, in between her telling me how interesting it is to watch people struggle (emphasis mine) with homosexuality (emphasis hers) due to, say, an absent father figure, or how infinite regression proves the undeniable existence of a one God universe, she finally hit on something that rang true: Charlotte has a close, and growing, coffee community. Really, we all just like hanging out and talking.
The close may be more on display on this particular night than the growing. Many may have thought the event on June 23 is canceled, as Central Coffees AC is malfunctioning. Theyve been closed all day and have only opened for the latte art competition, a recurring event that has been taking place in Charlotte every few months or so for more than three years now.
Still, the faithful bad pun intended have shown up in spite of the heat to watch baristas display their artistic ability using only steamed milk atop an espresso.
The competitors are judged on four categories: Use of space, balance and symmetry, color infusion and definition and overall impression.
The designs are impressive. Still, I have no idea why one guys heart is better than anothers. I may not know exactly whats going on with this whole color infusion thing, but its still enjoyable to watch it unfold while sipping on a free beer Central Coffee doesnt have a liquor license, meaning they cant sell beer but they can give it away on special occasions such as these.
And as my new Jesus-loving barista friend pointed out, theres a lot of hanging out and talking. This is the second latte art competition Ive gone to and both times I noticed how friendly everyone was, how eager they are to introduce themselves. They may be a close-knit group, but they are certainly welcoming to outsiders, even if said outsider doesn't know their balance from their symmetry and disengages at religious or relationship talk.
While these events don't always take place at Central Coffee, it provided the ideal venue for an event based on community and getting to know like-minded individuals. Its a cozy, intimate space best suited to small groups.
The Charlotte Coffee Community holds semi-regular events all around the city. You can connect with them on Facebook to stay in the loop.
Normally the last things I expect to see at a Make A Wish Foundation fundraiser are drinking, dancing and playing games. But at this event tonight, that is exactly what you will find, along with a way to win some money.
Make A Wish Foundation is having a fundraiser at TILT (127 W. Trade St.) tonight, June 28. At this event, people will help benefit those in need while having a blast doing it.
At midnight, there will be a 50-50 raffle drawing. This means for all the tickets sold, 50 percent of the total price goes to the winner and the other 50 percent will go to Make A Wish Foundation.
Starting at 8 p.m., this fun-filled fundraiser will have endless things to do. Shots, draft beers and liquor drinks are all only $1. For those of you who don't like to sit around, beer pong tables will be set up on the patio for whoever wants to show off their skills.
For some musical entertainment, DJ Precise is going to tear the turn tables up from 10 p.m. to close. Also at 8 to 10 p.m., a buffet sponsored by Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant will be available.
The fundraiser tickets are $11. If you have any questions call 704-347-4870.
Remember, this is all for a great cause so don't forget to tell your friends!
After having been sick all last week and just returning from a family out-of-town thing, I have to admit, my bones are itching to go out and be submersed in high energy.
Luckily, Sugar Society is putting on a show tonight that, as more than one person commented on Facebook, has a "sick lineup."
Headlining tonight at Neighborhood Theatre is "one of the planet's most sought after face melting dubstep dj/producers," Borgore. Here's what to expect:
09:00-09:45 - Tony Dubz
09:45-10:30 - Dan Wall
10:30-11:15 - Clicks & Whistles
11:15-12:00 - Steve TotalRecall Welborn
12:00-0?:?? - BORGORE
Tickets are $20-$25 and can be purchased here.
For a sample of Borgore, here's a video. Lyrics are not for the prude at heart.
