Tonight, check out this cool event (info on flyer below) and help out a good cause while having fun:
Who was seen on the scene ...
* Tee Party: Peyton Manning teeing off with Tiger Woods at the Quail Hollow Championship Wednesday morning.
* Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin and a lot of racer chasers at the Rusty Rudder on Tuesday night.
* Trent Tomilson serenading lunchers at McCoy Smokehouse on Wednesday afternoon.
* Kellie Pickler was at Whisky River last time she was here and probably will be again when she comes back to open up for Taylor Swift.
* Notorious actor Jamal "Gravy" Woolard was at SUITE Wednesday night, and he loved it when they called him Big Poppa.
And as for the Tupac pictures... it's a profile shot and I would imagine Tupac would have aged a little bit, if he's been alive this whole time and all.

Another Charlottean seen on the country scene ... my friend Sue whom I met in NYC while working at MAXIM. Sue was the leading lady in the Little Texas video My Love
And ten years and two kids later, she's still that hot ...
Little Texas is actually coming to the Old Town Ampitheater in Rock Hill on May 8.
As we get older, we earn more responsibilities ... between work and school, we start to tune out the rest of the world and march to the beat of our own drum. Yet, DrumSTRONG, offers a way to get back in touch with our community- by beating on someone elses drum!
Scott Swimmer, the founder of DrumSTRONG, reminds us that music is a great unifier. We all have a natural rhythm, so the event plays on that with hand drums, fiddles and flutes- the origins of drumming itself. But the drummers arent getting together to just bang out a song or two DrumSTRONG volunteers come together in the fight against cancer.

Despite not picking until the 43rd overall selection in Saturdays annual NFL Draft, many in the Panthers organization had quite a busy day.
Saturday morning, almost 20 players from the Panthers came out to support teammate Jordan Gross at his 2nd Annual Kick CF with Jordan Gross Joe vs. Pros Charity Kickball Game. Held this year at Memorial Stadium, the game pitted a team made almost exclusively of Panther players against a team of amateurs who had qualified in a tournament earlier that day to receive the professional beating the Pro team had in store for them.
The game benefitted the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and a handful of children who suffer from the disease attended the game with their families and were invited to participate in between-inning games with the players.
I went to Tavern on Park for lunch the other day and the first thing the hostess said as she walked us to our patio table was, you should come back at night, its so pretty out here. And by out here she was referring to Park Town Village Shopping Center where lights drape atop two stories of patios where bands, such as The Dempsey Gibson Band play (and will be playing again on May 1 and 2, might I add).
Tavern on Park is a restaurant fancier than the price. When I walked in, it felt as though I had entered a fancy restaurant in South Park, even the patio has fans and wooden benches cushioned with decorative pillows. I had a delectable little sandwich and salad with a fancy plate presentation and friendly service ... for the same price as the Market Fresh chicken salad I got from Arbys last week.
Between Tavern on Park, Duckworths Cheese Steakery, Hefs, Marble Slab, Jasons Deli and WAM (what Mama Fus mysteriously transformed into overnight), Parktown Village Shopping Center is like the EpiCentre of Dilworth and Myers Park ... for food. But at night, Tavern on Park turns into Tavern on Park After Dark. While I was in Boston, I sent my newest intern, Tiffany, there to see Simplified. So, everyone meet Tiffany ... Tiffany, Everyone Everyone, Tiffany. (But dont worry, Sarahs not going anywhere)
By Tiffany Handy
Old men dirty dancing to Reggae and cougars on the prowl were among the many at Tavern on Park After Dark, last Friday.
I went there to see Simplified, whom Id heard so much about great band, by the way but I was disappointed when, in the first five minutes, a fuse was blown ... but that didnt blow the night.
Tavern on Park After Dark could use some work preparing for bigger crowds granted, Simplified draws a big crowd, but drinks were served in 20-minute increments while guitars and drums motivated dancers to take the floor. As the night went on, the once empty dance floor filled up. A drunken girl couldnt stop swooshing her hair back and forth. I was sure she would soon get sick from all the swaying, but surprisingly, she held her own.
As in the Eric Church concert at Coyote Joe's.
The Deal
I am at risk of becoming a Coyote Joe regular; that was my third time there in a month. I was boot scooting and boogying the week before to Jason Aldean and to Lee Brice a few weeks prior to that. Like Churchs song people were drinking a little drink and smoking a little smoke outside (cause Coyote Joes has gone smoke free now we don't have to worry about spontaneously combusting due to the combination of smoke and hairspray).
The Good: All three shows were good, but Eric Church was great. He sang that he loves a good loud honky tonk that rocks on Friday night. Well, he was the one rocking the honky tonk along with opener Jonathan Singleton
The Bad: People took off their boots off during Eric Churchs song about cowboy boots and proceeded to wave them in the air (like they just didnt care) which made the place reek of feet. Is that like the countrys version of the Petey Pablo song: North Carolina, come on and raise up, take your boots off, waving 'em round your head, spin it like a helicopter YEE HAW!
The Verdict: Eric Church reps the Carolinas well he even named his latest album Carolina. That, and either this dude is a bed-wetter, or he drank a little too much that night:
Upcoming shows at Coyote Joe's ...
April 30: John Michael Carroll's album release party
May 9: Jake Owen
May 21: Zac Brown Band
This Friday, as in tomorrow, Strike City is bringing in some special guests Fall Out Boy. The group will be there to bowl, meet and greet fans and play Guitar Hero. Anyone who has played the game knows how sensitive the controls are... wonder how the bands do at their own songs! RockN Bowl starts at 3:30 p.m. and might I suggest getting there early. Who knows, maybe 50 Cent and Ashlee Simpson will be there too ... more random things have happened.
Every woman has a little black dress just waiting to shake off its dust and escape the dark, hidden space of our closets. With that in mind, Strike City is holding a Martini Mixer, and the sexiest little black dress wins $200 cash and with that kinda money, you can buy a little flair to match your hot-ass dress. The event starts at 10 p.m. and is hosted by Kiss 95.1s Otis. Martinis are ½ price and drafts are only $3. Even better, the event will benefit Autism Speaks. So come out for this black-dress-bowling-benefit because theres nothing sexier than a little black dress and bowling shoes.
And if these events were not enough to spur you to Strike City, on May 2, the bowling bar will be hosting Dos de Mayo! There will be Margarita, Tequila and Mexican beer specials. Aye Carumba!
If you don't get a chance to bowl with Fall Out Boy, you can still rock out with them ... and 50 Cent (how random!) at Bojangles Coliseum. Get tickets here
I get a weekly text from BAR Charlotte advertising their specials and reminding me that it is, in my opinion, still the skankiest bar in town.
Some of the texts that have bombarded my inbox boasted about ...
Midget Wrestling
BARkini Contest
Shamrock with your cock out
Playboy party and wet t-shirt contest
Joes Birthday party ... who is this Joe you speak of?
And a BAR Charlotte job fair ... Im sorry but the economy isnt that bad
And then each mass text is tagged with: no cover with text But little do they know, you couldnt pay me to go to BAR Charlotte ... unless, of course, Mini Britney is there.
The BAR scene is different from the bar scene considering every night is college night. The one time I set foot in that place, I wanted to run up to the 18-year-old riding the bull in a bikini and give her a hug, teach her the difference between negative and positive attention, and then proceed to Lysol the bull ... there may be S.T.Ds living on that thing.
So to 882-02, whoever you are, I am begging you take me off your text list and stick to sending mass messages on facebook like the other 813 unread messages in my inbox from promoters.
Laugh MS at Lake Norman Comedy Zone on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Charlotte's Walk MS.
The event will feature co-headliners Frankie Paul and David L from Brotha Fred's AM Mayhem.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and show starts at 8.
Not only will the show make you "LOL," but it raises money to help fight the progressive, incurable disease known as Multiple Sclerosis ... the disease my sister is fighting.
To give you some insight into Multiple Sclerosis and my family's battle with the disease, I have enclosed an article I wrote for the National MS Society newsletter...
Four drinks per round. Eight rounds. Do the math. Thats 8 x 4 ... wait for it ... there it is ... 32 cocktails I had to sample while judging Three Olive Vodkas Bar Wars 2009 to benefit AIDS Walk Charlotte. Myself, along with Sarah Aarthun from The Observer, Joey Hewell from Uptown Magazine, Steve Caldwell from ELEVATE Magazine, Breezekat from the Ace & TJ show and Roxy Moorecox from Petras Piano Bar were doing our part to save the world , one sip at a time.
Bar Wars is a Bars Against AIDS Respond event that raises thousands of dollars for AIDS Walk Charlotte which is coming up May 2. The bars throughout Charlotte round up their troops and throw their bartenders into battle to help fight against AIDS. The drink competition consisted of four categories: martini, shot, Red Bull beverage and Three Olives cocktail. The panel of judges rated each cocktail on a scale of yuck to yum. As a judge, I can go ahead and give you at least one verdict ... I got kinda drunk.
At one point there were this many drinks in front of me and yes, thats a peep floating in my drink. Its a "Duck in the Pond" made by Lenny at Loft 1523. Lets just say that was one of the cocktails entered into the contest I wanted to take more than one straw suck of.
