A repeat winner. Much like its sexually charged zodiac namesake, Scorpio is the sign to watch out for on a late night: The dance floor is a swimming mass of movement, the bar serves drinks with the right amount of sting, and the energized, inventive drag queen shows will crack the veneer of the toughest shell (even heterosexual ones), as biting humor and jazz hands combine into Broadway-worthy performances. The club is only open on Sunday and Wednesday nights (and here’s an unofficial plea to add Friday and Saturday to the mix) and for special holiday events, such as the high holy days of Gay Pride Week. Just don’t forget your cash: The bar doesn’t accept credit cards, and a dollar bill will get one of the performers to glance your way — if she deems you worthy enough, of course. 2301 Freedom Drive. 704-373-9124.
