We're kicking off this first-time category with a classic. Narcotics Anonymous has saved the lives of millions of grandparents, parents, children, sisters, brothers and cousins, but you'll never see a commercial or billboard lauding its powers. It follows the Twelve Step program developed by its sister group, Alcoholics Anonymous, but focuses on addiction not just to alcohol but also cocaine, heroin, meth and other drugs. Members admit their powerlessness over substances and make one promise: that they will make no promises - to themselves or to others. What they can do is follow the program, help other suffering addicts and take life one day at a time. Recovery is their savior, and church is every day.
