Lyfe of the Party

Saturday, June 2

Lyfe Jennings will showcase his talent for commanding the crowds with a soulful melody that is his signature move. If you were mistaken, realize his talents extend farther than his vocal cords, as his lyrics draw from the heaviest experiences of an ever-changing and sometimes tumultuous life. With a guitar, and a set of golden pipes, he sings his mistakes, his heart and his humanity. Look forward to an arousal of your eardrums, and a taste of the wisdom Lyfe's music continually embodies. Entrance exclusive to those 21 and older. $25. 9 p.m. Amos' Southend, 1423 S. Tryon St. 704-377-6874.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
