National Small Business Week - Two BFF's Open a Clothing Boutique

Meet Brianna and Kaylin

[CHARLOTTE, N.C.]

About Us
Brianna and Kaylin are Appalachian State business grads, sorority sisters, roommates, and now business partners! We are both 25-years-old and are fulfilling our dream of starting a clothing boutique with the March 23rd launch of our website, www.shoptothehills.com! We are Charlotte locals! In our free time, you’ll find us roller blading through Freedom Park, grabbing a large sweet tea from the local Chick-Fil-A or serving with our church, Forest Hill South Park. We both work full-time in corporate America, but decided we wanted to open this store as our “passion project.”

Where does the name come from?
The boutique name comes from the Psalm 121 bible verse “I lift my eyes up to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord; the maker of heaven and earth!” We believe that all good things come from God and we hope to be able to glorify Him in everything we do.

Shopping with a Purpose
We knew we wanted to do more with our store than just sell clothing; we want our store to give back in some way. We are both extremely passionate about serving our community as well as empowering young women. The boutique will be partnering with Girls on the Run, a Charlotte-based non-profit, to donate a percentage of all profits towards the organization. Our organizations’ values align as we both aim to make young women feel beautiful and secure in their own skin! GOTR aims to show young girls their limitless potential and give them the confidence to boldly pursue their dreams.

We (Kaylin and Brianna) believe we have been given the opportunity to follow our dreams of opening this boutique because we have had mentors pour into us and teach us to recognize our potential and value. We are excited to continue attending Girls on the Run events around Charlotte and volunteering at the Advance High School/Middle School ministry at Forest Hill Church to pay it forward.

Style
Every item chosen for the boutique was handpicked by the two at trunk shows in New York and Atlanta. At trade shows we search through thousands of pieces with the goal of finding unique, yet on-trend looks. We decided we would model the clothes ourselves to show that our clothes look good on different body types, not just models! We would describe our style as sweet and girly with a bohemian flare and a little bit of rock n’ roll mixed in.
 
Our clothes were picked out for women between the ages of 18-35 years old. Price ranges for clothing run from $30-$65.
