In Great Britain, Davis Miller of Winston-Salem is North Carolina's most famous writer. Davis who? Good question. Somehow Miller has yet to catch on in his native land the way he has in England, where his book The Tao of Muhammad Ali sat atop several bestseller lists and was turned into a six-part BBC radio play. The Brits (as well as other countries' critics) have latched on to Miller as a genre-bending writer whose eloquent, seriocomic tales about, well. . .life are written with himself at the center of the story. Sort of an inner travelogue detailing, among other things, his obsessions with Muhammad Ali (with whom he has become personal friends) and the late Bruce Lee.
