Sexy Cars Do the Catwalk

Sunday, June 3

At last, a free event you'll feel priviledged to attend! British Car Days South occupies the grounds in front of the Mint this afternoon. Featuring over 200 cars, you can expect big names like Austin-Healey, Bently, Jaguar, Lotus, MG, Mini's and Rolls Royce, to have their aluminum hats in the competition. Many originate from anywhere between the 1900s to the 1970s. If that's not enough, these antiques of classic art stimulate such fuss that only one can be named "best in show." 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Free. Mint Museum of Art, 2730 Randolph Road. 704-491-2053. www.carolinashealeys.com.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
