Share Your Photos Day at the Carolina Room

Stop by the Duke Mansion for Share Your Photos Day and help build the Carolina Room archives. Public Library of Charlotte-Mecklenburg staff will be accepting your pictures today at 3 p.m. and don't worry, you can keep your originals because copies will be made on the spot. Sheila Bumgarner of the Carolina Room and Levine Museum historian Tom Hanchett will talk about the findings. Call 704-432-0745 or visit for more info.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
