A profane, prolific and legendary eccentric, Kool Keith put underground rap on the map in the late ’90s with his bizarre-yet-addictive collision of free-associative rhymes, psycho-sexual obsessions and series of schizoid personas — demented gynecologist Dr. Octagon, homicidal hip-hop overlord Dr. Dooom and smarmy rock star Black Elvis. His latest disc, Demolition Crash, suggests William Burroughs’ Naked Lunch set to a beat — inspired, vulgar and endearingly warped. (Michael Walsh)
