Sistas in Rare Form

Kick off the King Weekend with plenty of drama and maybe a few laughs too! From a Sundance selection displaying a marriage minus love to a short explaining the intricate complexities of buying hair, the Legacy of Black Women -- Short Film Showcase has something for everybody. These films highlight the newest crop of up-and-coming female directors hailing from as far away as London and LA. The Deltas of Charlotte host their third consecutive year of an evening of short films by and about African-American women. The event benefits the Deltas' charitable programs. It all goes down Friday, Jan. 13 at McGlohon Theater in Spirit Square. The reception starts at 7pm. Tickets, $10 in advance and $15 at the door, are available at the Blumenthal Box Office at 704-372-1000 or at charlottevibe.com.
