When Yonatan Gat was last in Charlotte, his band Monotonix was leading the audience in what was as much a contact sport and circus spectacle as it was rock ’n’ roll show. People came away slack-jawed at the energy the Israeli trio brought and its blend of Middle Eastern-tinged garage rock. Gat’s debut solo EP, Iberian Passage, is said to be inspired by Os Mutantes and the “improvisational spirit” of Miles Davis — two commendable starting points. (John Schacht)
