"Consigned finds for the home" Classic Attic's slogan is certainly a fitting description. Dozens of chandeliers hang from the ceiling, brand-name china and glassware line the walls, and original artwork has its own section.
Ede Graves opened Classic Attic seven years ago in 2002 after she decided to leave the corporate life to pursue her love of antiques. The shop now has four regular employees, one of them being Tara Igbanol. Igbanol has been with Classic Attic for two years and works in sales as well as advertising for the store.
"There is a real family setting [working here]," Igbanol said of her work environment. "You develop friendly relationships with your customers and get to know their preferences."
In addition to specializing in high-end traditional furniture, Classic Attic is the only consignment store in Charlotte to have a custom draperies and linens section. Pillows, bedding, curtains galore! The linens must be in pristine condition and of a current style for the store to take them in.
In addition to merchandise that comes from individuals trying to make a little cash, some things are from estates in Charlotte or from interior decorators.
"Classic Attic has a varied collection of things a nice contrast," Igbanol said. "It's fun because the items are always changing."
Classic Attic also runs a luck-of-the-draw daily sale. The "Scavenger Sale" is a different type of item each day that goes on sale for 10 percent off. There is also the "Last Chance Corner," an area that has been sectioned off and includes items at 20 percent or more.
If you have been perusing the Charlotte area for a deal on home furnishings, take a look around Classic Attic. On the flip side, if you want to get rid of a few things, call and make an appointment for a consultation.
