On Saturday night, the Economic Stimulus Party went down at Alley Cat, complete with a vintage fashion show courtesy of Hong Kong Vintage. It's one thing to go to a fashion show, see the pretty clothes and wish you could afford to buy them; it's another thing to go to a fashion show, see the pretty clothes and go to the shop the next day and pick out an outfit for under $50.
With most people pinching as many pennies as possible, vintage fashion is the way to go nowadays. Cheap and chic, remember? Here are some photos from the show. My favorite outfit? The fuschia jumpsuit, accented with a yellow scarf. Love bright colors!

No need to spend a fortune updating your look. Danielle Hughes, a freelance makeup artist, suggests you visit your neighborhood drugstore.
Spring is in the air. What better way to liven up your look than with new makeup in pink, deep plum and green the hot new colors for the season.Looking good neednt cost a fortune. To prove it, I went shopping for makeup at an uptown drugstore with freelance makeup artist Danielle Hughes. What many women don't realize, she said, is that drugstore-brand cosmetics often are owned by the same companies that produce the more expensive makeup found in department stores, so they share similar technology.
We looked at foundation, eye shadow and lip gloss that would have cost twice as much at your local mall.

Retail and art go hand in hand, if you ask me. What I wear on my body can be just as artistic and thought-provoking as a painting with a ghoul screaming with a backdrop of a midnight sky.
I think the folks at Black Sheep agree. Friday night they'll be hosting an art show dubbed "What The Flock?" (Great name, guys.)
