Isaac Mizrahi says 'Go buy clothes'

Posted By on Sun, Apr 19, 2009 at 12:46 AM

American designer Isaac Mizrahi paid Charlotte a visit today to showcase the new spring line for Liz Claiborne.

With the current economic crisis, Mizrahi understands that we feel like we need permission. In a loud, booming voice, he commanded, "Go buy clothes." In terms of what to buy, he recommends lots of colors. "Everyone has black. What you need is something that you don't have, the yellow floral print raincoat, right?" he said.

Check out photos from the fashion show below.

When you choose your outfit each morning, you're making some kind of fashion statement. For example, today I'm wearing a green T-shirt sporting the words "Can I get some love?" surrounding a globe, with a heart on the continent of Africa; and some jeans. My fashion statement today: I'm comfortable, I'm chilling and I'm all about peace and love.

If you're looking for a fly event to shout out your own fashion statement, whether it be diva and chic or pimpin' and gangsta, check out MAZ Entertainment's first party of spring Saturday night: Fashion Statement at LaVecchia's Uptown. Here's some more info:

During this event we will host some of Charlotte's Premiere Fashion Designers, Models, Makeup Artists, and Hair Stylists as they "rip the runway" with their latest creations!

However, we will still do what we do best: PARTY HARD!

There will be plenty of FREE FASHION GIVEAWAYS from many of your favorite places such as: Aldos, Express, Guess, BeBe's, Arden B, Nine West, MAC, Victoria's Secret, and MORE!!!

Please DO NOT miss the Special Lingerie Portion of the show featuring Charlotte's SEXIEST Men and Women!

Everyone in attendance will also receive a ticket for FREE ADMISSION to MAZ's first party in May! YAK!

The Dress Code will be STRICTLY ENFORCED! No Athletic Wear will be permitted!

We are also happy to announce that a generous portion of our proceeds will be directed towards clothing under-privileged men, women, and children.

What statement is your outfit making today?

Carolina Place owner files Chapter 11

Posted By on Thu, Apr 16, 2009 at 10:51 AM

As long as Carolina Place doesn't get like Eastland Mall, we should be OK.

From the Charlotte Observer:

The company that owns Carolina Place Mall in Pineville and Valley Hills Mall in Hickory has filed the biggest real estate bankruptcy in U.S. history.

General Growth Properties Inc., which also had planned to build a large mall in Mint Hill, has filed for Chapter 11 protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York, listing $27 billion of debts.

The mall owner said it will continue operating Carolina Place Mall, Valley Hills Mall and more than 200 other properties, including such prominent centers as South Street Seaport in Manhattan and Faneuil Hall in Boston.
