Creative Loafing loves handmade goodies which is why we'll be checking out Craft Attack! 2009 tomorrow at Independence Park at 300 Hawthorne Lane (going down between the hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m.). The weather's been kinda wonky lately (one day I'm sporting a scarf in a long-sleeve tee, today it's a sleeveless with a raincoat), but no worries: Craft Attack will go down rain or shine. Yes!
You can expect to find pottery, jewelry, wearables, dolls and collectibles, bags, soaps, candles, handspun yarn, stuffed animals and more. Here are some vendors that will be showcasing their work. The list is pretty heavy, so please just do yourself a favor and check out this FREE event!
Pura Vida is an eclectic gift shop of culture located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. If you like bright colors, art and learning about other cultures, this is the place to check out. According to their Web site, the folks at Pura Vida believe "that exposure to and knowledge of other cultures fosters positive relationships and a stronger community." Amen to that.
Check out a video tour of the shop with owner Teresa Hernandez below.

To commemorate the occasion, Google has switched out its logo to barcode language:

This week we're reviewing accessories from Andrea's Beau and The Hookup.
Andreas Beau: Laurel Jacquard double adjustable soft headband
Some days we need a little inspiration. And doing something different, and stylish, is just what the doctor ordered. I love this headband. The double band makes it an instant enhancement! It adjusts easily (for those occasions when your daughter asks to borrow it). And speaking of the little girls hair accessories will knock your socks off!
The Hookup: Handbag hook
This accessory is a seriously convenient product. It clips to your handbag and makes it a breeze to keep your handbag off of any dirty surface. The fashionable heart, plated in gold or platinum, clips to your purse strap and twists open to hook your purse to any table or door (or chair, stroller, grocery cart, etc.). Its fantastic!
