Your favorite French bakery is hosting a Sweet Notions Boutique Shopping Event tomorrow, Dec. 1. Here's the info (via Amelie's Facebook):
Amelie's is hosting a Sweet Notions Boutique Shopping Event on Dec. 1, 2009, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Here's what it's all about:
Sweet Notions collects, respects and restores beautiful accessories donated by individuals and stores around the world. Then they sell the recycled pieces through special boutique events to raise money for special causes, like a human-trafficking initiative in South-East Asia that intends to create jobs for vulnerable women.
When you shop with Sweet Notions, you have the chance to buy a unique accessory. You're being kind to the environment. And you're contributing to worthwhile projects that transform people and places.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
• Root out accessories – jewelry, handbags, scarves, hats, belts, etc. – from your closets (please, no clothes) and donate them. Just bring them to Amelie's on Dec. 1. It's tax deductible!

Events Red pumps, ties encouraged

I think for Christmas, I'm going to ask for a pair of red stilettos. This upcoming event, The Red Pump/Red Tie Affair: A Stylish World AIDS Day Event, makes me yearn for them.

JSW Media Group in association with The Red Pump Project is proud to host “The Red Pump/Red Tie Affair: an evening of art, fashion, food and music to commemorate World AIDS Day 2009. This year’s gala will take place the evening of December 1, 2009 at the elegant Palmer Building (2601 East Seventh Street near Uptown Charlotte) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The night will feature an awards ceremony where author DeVondia Roseborough will be honored for her fearless commitment to community activism with the inaugural “Red Pump Award.” Roseborough is the author of "Put it on Paper," a nonfiction memoir describing her life before HIV and after AIDS, and founder of The Rasberrirose Foundation, a 501c (3) nonprofit organization whose focus is to minister to teenage girls aged 10-18, struggling from self-esteem, with a focus on HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness.
