Toiluxe: Art for your toilet

Posted By on Fri, Mar 19, 2010 at 3:09 PM

So ... there's a phantom in my office who leaves me random information on my desk. Earlier this week, I found a page torn out of a health magazine about getting healthier for free taped to my desk. I asked around to see who'd left it so I could thank them for being so considerate of my health and my wallet, but no one knew what I was talking about. I even texted my photographer friend whom I go to yoga with to see if she'd come by in the middle of the night to leave that for me (why she would, I don't know), but she hadn't.

Today, I found a press release for Toiluxe in my chair. The headline reads: Art You Didn't Know You Wanted.

From the release:

Toiluxe, brought to you by Boston area artist Stephanie Ziobro could possibly be the best thing to hit your bathroom since two-ply toilet paper. Realizing that the bathroom is the smallest yet easiest room in your place to decorate with eclectic flair, Toiluxe can custom design toilet seats to tickle the fancy of your fanny with artwork ranging from elegant to outrageous to anything your derriere desires.

Toiluxe is one of a kind “functional” art, using an original medium - toilet seats. Each seat is hand-painted and cured with an acrylic sealer to prevent water damage. Toilet seat mounting hardware is included, however feel free to mount this unique piece of art outside of the bathroom. Hang on your wall, over the peep hole of your door, where ever you see fit.

So, what do you think of this line? Is it the "best thing to hit your bathroom since two-ply toilet paper?" I personally love this product and demand someone buy me the toilet seat cover below. What a great way to add some color to my otherwise boring bathroom. Yes, it may be the room where business is taken care of, but hey, I like to be surrounded by pretty designs and colors. I've managed to add some brightness with a yellow rug and yellow towels, but THIS would really complete the look.

Flipping through the already available options, I see they even have a toilet seat with Ellen's face on it! How would you like to be greeted by that every morning? More importantly ladies, how would your man feel about being greeted by that every morning?

On Saturday, upon arrival to the venue (Backstage, 8801 East WT Harris Blvd. Charlotte, NC), 2000 guests will be greeted with the luxury of a “Red Carpet” Entrance complete with photographers and valet service.

At the entrance guests will be met not only by charming hosts and hostesses but also by the exquisite décor of Serenity, a designer from the Charlotte Area whose interiors and event spaces have been featured on shows like Bravo TV’s “Platinum Weddings”.

A night of music, laughter, and mingling follows as guests are entertained by vocalists Adina Howard, Lacee, Jus K, and Beattie Grind.

A small number of select vendors will complete the guests’ experience.

P3P Media will express a parting expression of gratitude to its guests by providing gift bags of samples and other sponsor provided items as each guest leaves.

As part of the night’s attempt to increase awareness of the National Kidney Foundation, the designers, stylist, and artists will be invited to participate in the taping of a Public Service Announcement about the vision, mission, and work of the Foundation, which will air in several area markets.

We would like to thank all of our customers for supporting Black & Blue and hope they will continue to support locally owned businesses!

Join us on Saturday for a fun filled day complete with a DJ and bubbly! Also, receive $20 off every $100 spent."

OK, you've got a little over two months to get ready to meet the perfectly poised Mr. Gunn, who will be stopping through Southpark to host a fashion show on May 22. And how do you go about doing that?

Heck, I don't know. I've never met the man.

From the fabulous Rachel Sutherland, former style editor at the Observer (who's still doing her fashionista thang at her own blog If The Shoe Fits):

The spring fashion show will feature pieces from Kate Spade New York, Lucky Brand Jeans and Juicy Couture.

The 1 p.m. May 22 fashion show is free, and guests who spend $125 or more between May 16-22 at participating stores (Kate Spade, Lucky Brand Jeans or Juicy Couture) will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Tim Gunn at the event.

Seating is guaranteed for the first 250 guests. RSVP: 404.260.4311.
