Random Dumb Sh*t Park this, Charlotte

What the hell is up with the parking in Uptown Charlotte? Don’t get me wrong — I am happy to pay four or five dollars to park my car and go and enjoy myself in any one of this city's numerous bars and clubs -- but $15-$20? That is fucking ridiculous! Picture this scenario:
You and your best friend score free tickets to an event Uptown. You get ready for a great night out; you take five dollars cash for parking and your ID and you are good to go. You go to the garage where you normally park to find that tonight it’s not $5, it's $20! You shake your head and keep going, with the thought that at least you might be able to get one of the free spots on Tryon that’s close and is worth a try. Much to your vexation, the city had taken them all away. By this time you are 20 minutes late and so frustrated, you just go home and drink a bottle of wine.
This scenario happened to me recently. Now I know this whole thing is partially my fault for being late, but how was I to know that parking would quadruple in cost? I go Uptown pretty frequently and have never really had a problem with parking — as long as I had my five bucks, I was golden. What the hell happened Charlotte? I have spent tons in parking, and the one time I need a free ride you take all the free spots away? In the words of Riley from The Boondocks, that’s a bitch ass move, Charlotte.
The next day I was watching the news and came across the story of how over 100 free spaces on Tryon were being bagged. I smiled to myself and thought, "I wish I would have known this last night!"
Come to find out, as I tell this story over and over again, many people can relate. From people who work Uptown paying anywhere from $100-$200 a month to park, to people making it back to the meter just a minute too late.
I understand that Charlotte is a growing, thriving metropolis, and prices are bound to go up. I understand that. Just next time, could you give a girl a little warning so she can stuff a 20 in her bra for parking?
