Hotels score slam dunk: Charlotte became a beckon sending out a signal all across the United States drawing people into the city, thanks to the three consecutive tournaments we have hosted in the city. According to some of the largest hotels in Uptown, guests from different cities and states flooded their rooms.

Charlotte officer expected to plead guilty: Accused of sexually assaulting a woman while on duty in 2007, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Joseph Anthony is pleading guilty on a misdemeanor charge on April 1 to keep himself out of prison. In January Anthony was charged with two felonies: first-degree kidnapping with a maximum of 21 years and first-degree sexual offense punishable from 12 years to life. The deal requires Anthony to resign from the police force, give up his law enforcement training certifications, maybe spend 150 days in jail, but with no priors he faces up to 60 days.

Obama's new down-to-earth oratory: Sen. Barack Obama was once known for his polished speech delivery style, but he has decided to change things around. He now does the town-hall-style meeting campaign. In his appearance in the economically depressed Johnstown by Little Conemaugh River, Obama was introduced by Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey as the "underdog fighter for an underdog state."
