How do you not know you've hit someone?

Posted By on Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 1:34 PM

The pessimist in me wasn't surprised to see that a Charlotte cab driver struck and killed a woman while driving; nor was I too shocked that he didn't even realize it until he drove home. I've seen some crazy cabbie behavior in Charlotte and even more in other cities. But how can you hit someone and not know it? How do you mistake a human body for a pole or traffic cone?

You have to feel for the guy; some people would never have called police.

Though the circumstances are totally dissimilar, this tragedy reminds me a little of the Texas woman who struck a homeless man with her car, drove home while he was stuck in the windshield, and left him to die in her garage. Now that was shocking.
