Tyson drops Labor Day for Muslim holiday:
Workers at Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Tennessee have opted out to trade a paid Labor Day holiday for the Muslim celebration of Eid-al-Fitr, which occurs at the end of Ramadan. The change exchanges Labor Day for the Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. The new contract, negotiated last fall, also gives Muslim workers a prayer room. Clarksville Online
Death Row Inmate: I'm too fat to be executed:
Richard Cooey, an inmate due to be executed, says he is so fat executioners may have trouble finding his veins and he might not be properly anaesthetised. Lawyers for Cooey argue in a federal lawsuit that Cooey had poor veins when he faced execution five years ago and that the problem has been worsened by weight gain. Cooey, 41, was sentenced to die for raping and murdering two University of Akron students in 1986. CNN via AP

Pakistani woman extradited to New York for alleged attack on U.S. soldiers:
Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani scientist educated at MIT with suspected links to Al-Qaeda was to appear in court in New York Tuesday on charges of shooting at American officers while in Afghan custody last month. Siddiqui allegedly shot at two FBI agents, military officers in Afghanistan. Fox News via AP
