The music of Iceland

Posted By on Mon, Aug 11, 2008 at 4:33 PM

It might be cold in Iceland, but it's clear nothing is freezing up the talent that springs from this country, whose culture is deeply rooted Norse traditions. Known not only for their sagas and prose epics of classic literature, Iceland has also influenced musicians and led to them being internationally recognized. The Light Factory will present a film titled Screaming Masterpiece: 1000 Years of Icelandic Popular Music on Aug. 12 at The Visulite Theatre. It will feature Bang Gang, Bjork, Sigur Ros, Slowblow, Amina, Mugison and more. DVD's of the film will be available for purchase at the show as well.  Aug. 12. $5 for members; $7 for non-members. 7 p.m. The Visulite Theatre, 1615 Elizabeth Ave. 704-358-9200. www.lightfactory.org.
