If you had to rate the police. . .

Posted By on Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 10:39 AM

Normally, I don't take survey phone calls. But last night, I received an interesting one about the service of Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

I wonder how much we taxpayers paid for this service. And what was the point? Are we a city and culture driven by poll results? How was this thing taken anyway? I'm sure there are certain neighborhoods who love the police and think they are wonderful--but were people all over the city called?

Did this survey include people who had been in neighborhoods where police shot and sometimes killed suspects? And what happens with the results? Do these results translate into better police service?

If you were asked to rate CMPD, on a scale of one to 10, how would you do it?
