Lack of venue caused cancelation

Posted By on Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 12:18 PM

As quickly as the word came out that Jay-Z, the rapper who just won’t retire, was coming to Charlotte to stump for Sen. Barack Obama, it was canceled.

Word on Obama’s web site says:

UPDATE:  We regret to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances, the “Vote for Change” Rally scheduled for Charlotte today has been cancelled.

Today's Greensboro rally is still om. (sic)

This morning, CL talked with someone close to the organizers of the canceled event and found out that because the organizers didn’t go through the proper channels to use Phillip O Berry Academy of Technology, the event was canceled.

Voters received phone calls on Saturday telling them that the event was canceled.

Jay-Z did show up in Greensboro at North Carolina A&T State University. No word if Beyonce made it.

Hopefully, the people who worked on this event won't be a part of an Obama White House staff.
