King made Obama possible

Posted By on Fri, Jan 16, 2009 at 12:55 PM

President-elect Barack Obama will officially become president next week. This historical inauguration ceremony will happen the same week as the commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. This is significant because had it not been for the work of King and his generation, Obama would not have had the opportunity to strive for what seemed like an impossible goal for a black man in American society. Obama stands squarely on the shoulders of King and next week will truly be a monumental day because of the interconnectedness of the struggles of all Americans which Obama's life reflects.
