Museum exhibit floor changes
Beginning on Tuesday, June 9, when the Museum re-opens, access to the aquarium and Knight Rainforest no longer will be available to Museum guests as those areas undergo major upgrades and redesign. Additionally, The Dinosaurs exhibit on Level 2 will be removed.
In early July, the first newly-renovated areas of the Museum will re-open. Visitors will enjoy a fresh, new café serving lunch and snacks; upgraded exhibition space; and a new classroom space for early childhood classes.
While upgrades continue to be made throughout the Museum, additional areas of Level 1 temporarily will be inaccessible as Discovery Place enters the most intensive phase of its renovation. During this period, KidsPlace activities will be relocated to Level 3 of the Museum.
Throughout the summer, visitors can continue to enjoy family favorites including educational presentations in Einsteins Corner, Rat Basketball, The Machine Shop, Our Living Planet, Kapla Blocks and KidsPlace. In addition, Discovery Place will continue to offer new, entertaining and educational experiences including new IMAX films and the Museums current exhibition, Circus!, which has been extended to Sunday, July 12, 2009.
Visitors also will have access to Discovery Place Parking Garage throughout the renovation.
We are eager to move forward through this next phase of upgrades and begin opening new exhibits later this year, said Mackay.

The renovation also will feature an improved infrastructure and the ability to rotate exhibitions more frequently.
