In case you haven't heard, Ri Ra Irish Pub has closed due fire damage. Owners of the pub, hope it can reopen later in the summer. For more information, read the press release below.
Ri Ra to fully restore authentic Irish PubRi Ra Irish pub in Charlotte suffered smoke and heat damage as the result of a fire in the early hours of Saturday morning, May 23rd. Nobody was in the pub at the time and fortunately there were no injuries. Firefighters from stations 4 and 1 were on the scene very quickly and damage to some of the pubs old antiquities was minimized. Ciaran Sheehan and David Kelly opened Ri Ra in Charlotte 12 years ago. Ri Ra has been proudly serving the Charlotte community since that time; the pub has become a favorite watering hole and something of an institution in the city. Once over the initial shock Ciaran and David were happy to realize that the beautiful, original 19th Century Victorian Dublin bar in the middle of Ri Ra suffered limited damage in the fire. Together with the rest if the Ri Ra team, they are working to restore the pub exactly as it was prior to the accident. The pub will reopen as soon as possible, hopefully during the late summer.
The popular Ri Ra sandwich bar on Hearst Plaza has also had to close. Ri Ra management is very grateful to their neighbors, friends and customers for all the support.
