Officials dunno why your bill's high

In extremely annoying news:

Utilities officials have not found an explanation for some homeowners who have reported an unexpected increase in their water bill and consumption, a top administrator with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities told city leaders Monday.

Dozens of utilities customers have recently complained their water bill has more than doubled from their normal billing amount with no apparent explanation.

Denise Foreman, CMU's Assistant Director, said inspectors have ruled out problems with water meters and billing errors in most cases, but the homeowners who reported the abnormal bills have not found a leak in their plumbing.

"After you guys have ruled these things out what does that citizen do at that point?" asked council member Edwin Peacock.

"I don't have another option for you," Foreman responded. "I guess that's our dilemma."
