Comic book fans unite

Comic book enthusiasts can nerd out this weekend during these two animated events:

It all starts on Friday with the Marvel Halloween Party at Suite. Folks can dress in their superhero best for a costume party and contest.

Details: Suite, 210 E. Trade St. 704-971-7878. www.suitecharlotte.com.

Then on Saturday, local comic book collectors, artists (including those who have crafted their own action-infested graphics) and folks with pop culture memorabilia (toys, games, music, movies and more) set up spaces to sell whatever goodies they are willing to part with during Heroes Pop Swap: Charlotte's Pop Culture Swap Meet at Heroes Aren't Hard To Find. The event aims to replicate “old-school” comic-related gatherings and sidewalk sales, made almost extinct due to booming comic book crazes. That said, it’s not open to professional dealers who buy and/or sell at big boy comic book conventions and online shops. Wearing costumes is encouraged.

Details: Free admission. Vendors: $10 for four foot space; $15 for six foot space; $20 for eight foot space. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more details or to apply/purchase a space, click here. Heroes Aren't Hard To Find, 1957 E. 7th St. 704-375-7462. www.heroesonline.com.
