TIËSTO
Whether he's performing in front of tens of thousands on the main stage at a festival or just to the adoring clubbers who come to see him in their hometown, there is no denying the impact Tiësto has had on the music industry as a whole. The man ignores the confines of genres, creating his own global brand and sound. Though his early productions released in 1994 were in the hardcore/gabber categories, he became best known for his trance triumphs. Currently, you can find him dropping big room anthems, trap and deep house in his eclectic sets, podcast and syndicated radio show, Club Life. Tiësto's achievements extend past the genres themselves, though. He's been Grammy-nominated, won numerous MTV awards and performed at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He also has a street named after him in Las Vegas called "Tiësto Way," a holiday in Vegas named "Tiësto Day" and even a wax statue behind some turntables at Madame Tussauds. We're not sure what to expect when Tiësto returns to the Queen City, but everyone should see him at least once. (Read more about Tiësto in a Q&A at clclt.com/music.) Sold out. Aug. 29, 10 p.m. Label, 900 N.C. Music Factory Blvd.
