First Drip (10/17/13): Government reopened, Rielle Hunter's apology, more

The government has reopened - at least, for a few more months.

Early voting is now open for Mecklenburg County. (Yes, local elections do matter.)

The fiancee of Jonathan Ferrell, the man who was fatally shot by a CMPD officer last month, says she's forgiven the shooter. 

And, in "a day late, a dollar short" news, John Edwards' mistress Rielle Hunter finally apologizes for the affair - and plugs her new book.
