First Drip (2/13/14): Charlotte still closed, Comcast to buy Time Warner, more

Posted By on Thu, Feb 13, 2014 at 9:54 AM

Most of Charlotte is still closed today, so stay off the roads if at all possible. Raleigh already made national headlines yesterday with an Atlanta-esque traffic jam. (There are also these photos floating around reddit - fire and ice make everything not so nice.)

When two huge forces join powers and become one: Comcast has agreed to buy Time Warner Cable in a $45 billion deal.

Duke Energy estimates that less coal ash was leaked into the Dan River than originally reported - less than 40,000 tons is the figure the company is going with now. (The spill is still one of the largest to date.) Public health advisories have been issued to avoid the water.

In non-sports-related Olympic news: The popular way to de-stress amongst the athletes seems to be using the dating app Tinder. "Everyone knows the runner's high," said one competitor. "Olympian athletes certainly have it - it's orgasmic."
