Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap - $10 or less - things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).
Clips Beer and Film Fest at Independence Park: This annual traveling festival, brought to you by the fine folks at New Belgium Brewing, is a combination of craft brews — many of which are hard to find — and short films — many of which you might otherwise never see. So bring a blanket and plan to relax at this event at Independence Park. Proceeds raised from the Charlotte stop of the tour will benefit the Charlotte Area Bicycle Alliance. Silent Disco at Rooftop 210: Once you put on headphones you'll have access to three options of music being spun by DJ Drex, Kyle Biddy and Boy Beats World. For the Love of Music: Photographs by Chris Radok & Installation by Hans Drost and Joey Vernon at Baku Gallery: It's the opening reception for this exhibit that features photos by former CL Chris Radok who murdered in 2011. Unity Fall Fest: Gandhi Celebration at Old Courthouse Building: Not only did he bring India to independence, but Gandhi inspired global admiration for his nonviolent civil rights movement. His determination in the face of oppression has influenced changes to human rights as we know it. This festival honors his legacy with a candlelight vigil. There will also be a keynote speaker to talk about the importance of peace, exhibits, cultural displays, food, activities for children and more. Free admission. Charlotte Book Fair at Little Rock Community Cultural Center: Charlotte Book Fair features the local authors, theater performances, publishing experts, music, a marketplace, a comic book-making session, movies, and contests. Fall Art Crawl in Plaza Midwood: There's plenty to see & do at this fall-themed art crawl. There will be plenty of artists of varying mediums, in addition to aerialists, drum circles, onsite painting and more. Free admission.
