Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap - $10 or less - things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).

Improv Vikings Comedy Invasion at Kickstand Burgers & Bar: The local improv troupe presents unscripted comedy in a casual atmosphere. Don't worry, they won't headbutt you. $10. Oct. 24, 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Kickstand Burgers & Bar, 1101 Central Ave. www.improvvikings.com.

Free for All at Hart-Witzen Gallery: What’s not to love about a dip in the pool of local Charlotte artists? If you ask us, we’re ready to jump right in, and this showcase at Hart Witzen Gallery is worthy of a good splash. The exhibit features works by Witzen studio artists like Will Puckett, Osiris Rain, Christina Welsh, Sharon Dowell and more, including the late photographer Chris Radok. Plus, there’s live music from Sandy Herrault and Maryland Crab Co. food truck onsite. Free admission. Oct. 25, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Hart-Witzen Gallery, 136 E. 36th St. 704-334-1177. www.hartwitzengallery.com.

Dogtoberfest at Jackalope Jacks: The annual event features a dog jog ($5 to enter), live music, raffles, a corn hole tournament, a photo booth, a dog costume contest, a bake sale, vendors, adoptable dogs and more. It's a good time and gives you an excuse for putting the pooch through the torture of wearing a cute little outfit. Money raised from the event helps to benefit Dog Days of Charlotte, a non-profit organization that rescues dogs from high-kill shelters in the area. Oct. 25, 12-5 p.m. Jackalope Jacks, 1936 E. 7th St. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/events/288560991342342.

Turkish Festival of Charlotte at Oasis Shriners Auditorium: Folks who attend this festival can enjoy Turkish cuisine, folk dancing, belly dancing, exhibits, cooking demos, music and more. It's a cultural thrill that's a hell of a lot cheaper than hopping a flight to Turkey. $2-$3. Oct. 25, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oasis Shriners Auditorium, 604 Doug Mayes Place. www.charlotteturks.org.

4th Annual Greater Charlotte Fine Art Festival at Birkdale Village: This annual festival features local and regional artists who displaying and selling paintings, jewelry, sculptures, photography, ceramics, glassware, mixed-media, metalwork and more.
