First Drip (12/03/14): Whistleblower's racial comments, Israel sets vote, missing brains

Should a former city worker who posted racial comments on her Facebook page get her job back? Former Charlotte fire investigator Crystal Eschert said her firing had nothing to do with her Facebook comments but was, instead, retaliation against her as a whistleblower. She had earlier raised questions about the quality of renovations at a new arson unit building on North Graham Street. The case will go under review.

The stretch of Providence Road south of Interstate 485 could soon be a lot more busy, with developer Lincoln Harris filing plans to rezone a 188-acre former golf course to build offices, shops, a school and hundreds of houses.

Israel has set a date for early elections amid the governing coalition collapse. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was “impossible to manage the country” following a showdown with Finance Minister Yair Lapid over the controversial “Jewish State” bill on Wednesday. Elections were set for March 17, two years ahead of schedule.

Around 100 brains appear to have gone missing from the University of Texas at Austin, reports the Austin American-Statesman. “We think somebody may have taken the brains but we don’t know at all for sure,” Professor Tim Schallert, co-curator of the collection, told the newspaper.
