First Drip (1/22/15): Abortion bill dropped, no charges recommended in Ferguson, more

North Carolina Rep. Renee Ellmers and Rep. Jackie Walorski of Indiana led a group of lawmakers who forced House Republicans to drop a bill that would ban most abortions at 20 weeks or later, ahead of a vote scheduled to coincide today with the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

Lawyers from the U.S. Justice Department will recommend that no civil rights charges be brought against Darren Wilson, the police officer who fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Missouri. However, the final Justice Department report has not been completed, and the final decision rests with Attorney General Eric Holder.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. said on Wednesday that he might enter the presidential race, but polls right now show he has little to no chance of winning.

Britain's Prince Andrew will open his annual British trade reception at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland today with the denial of allegations that he had sex with an underage American girl hired by friend and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
