Arts Cheap list: McColl Open House, Yonatan Gat, Classic & Soulful Party, more

Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap - $10 or less - things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).
Open Mic Night at McGlohon Theater: Not a bad way to spend a cold, rainy night indoors. The free event gives performers - instrumentalists, singers, dancers, storytellers, poets, jugglers, magicians and more - a chance to showcase their talents in front of an audience. Open House and Encuentros/Encounters Exhibit at McColl Center for Art + Innovation: The multimedia exhibit showcases the results of a project by Windgate artists-in-residence, Dignicraft. Over the course of three-months works were created that explore pottery, specifically related to the Purépecha culture. Free admission. Yonatan Gat at Snug Harbor: Monotonix guitarist Yonatan Gat has paved his own path through the psychedelic, punk-jam underworld. For a more intimate vibe, the band sets up on the floor of the venue instead of on stage. Gat, bassist Gal Lazer and drummer Sergio Sayeg join forces in an avant-garde amalgam of rock, Afrobeat, punk, folk and surf for extended jams that insightfully and improvisationally wander wherever the mood takes them.
