Two people were killed at the University of South Carolina in Columbia in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide.

According to an audio recording heard by the Observer, Charlotte fire investigator Crystal Eschert, who was fired for an offensive Facebook status, was told by the fire department's HR director and chief fire investigator to write a letter at home addressing the social media post, print it out and then delete it. “Email is a public record,” said Kristi Kjeldsen, the HR director.
The ACLU is calling for lawmakers to pass measures preventing police departments in North Carolina from using cell phone tracking technology without a warrant. "On principles, it's a little big brother-ish to say the least," Charlotte resident Tim Lind told WCNC.
