Arts Cheap list: Burger Records Revolution Show, No Pants Light Rail Ride, more

Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap - $10 or less - things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).
Showdown 4 at Hart-Witzen Gallery: You - and others who attend the event - can determine who wins the title of 'Best in Show' for the night in this artistic showdown with a variety of works by local artists. Doors open 7 p.m. and voting ends 10:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 10:45 p.m. Free admission. March 7, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Hart-Witzen Gallery, 136 E. 36th St.
Burger Records Revolution Show at 100 Gardens: Burger Records, a California-based independent record company, presents this event as part of a world-wide concert series. The lineup includes an assortment of bands, including Banda Suki, Modern Primitives, Cave World Order, Bird Step, Rodney Kings, Las Rosas, The Mumzees and more. Birdsong Brewery and PBR will provide the brews and the local Creekside Farms will be grilling up burgers (vegetarian options, too). Cupcakes & Condoms at Dressing Room Boutique: The Red Pump Project— a nonprofit organization whose focus is to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and safe sex for women and girls — presents an afternoon of girl talk about sex, relationships, HIV/AIDS prevention and health risk factors. Though these are some tough subjects to tackle, they’re better talked about than ignored. The laid-back environment is complete with cupcakes, too. Free admission. Viva La Cook Triple Crown Grill Off + Food Wisdom Day at 7th Street Public Market: McColl Center for Art + Innovation artist-in-residence Robert Karimi hosts this interactive event with a barbecue contest Audience members will get to cook, share stories and recipes, and eat. Free admission. March 7, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 7th Street Public Market, 224 E. 7th St.
Screening of The Killing Fields at The Main Library: The Main Library presents this screening as part of its ongoing series, Made in 1984: Movies From 30 Years Ago series. Free. March 7, 2 p.m. Main Library, 310 N. Tryon St.
No Pants Light Rail Ride: Inspired by the No Pants Subway Ride, an annual world-wide event started up by New York’s Improv Everywhere in 2002, this Charlotte event encourages folks to strip down to their (clean) undies for a ride on the light rail — with a straight face. After the ride, head over to Unknown Brewing on Mint Street for music, food, drinks and prizes. Light rail fees apply for ride; $3 without pants and $5 with pants for admission into after-party at Unknown. March 7, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.cltnopants.com.
