First Drip (3/9/15): Save the Chop Shop, more

A CMPD officer shot a teenage boy in the lower leg and wrist Saturday evening on North Tryon Street when the teenager allegedly would not put down his weapon. Police were in the area to break up a teenage party. On Sunday, the police department and the N.C. Local Barbershop Association hosted a forum on relations between blacks and police, during which Police Chief Rodney Monroe said they're working on better training for officers.

In light of recent news that the Chop Shop in NoDa may be demolished for new development, supporters of the venue have launched a petition to the NoDa Neighborhood Association. As of this morning, 1,120 supporters had signed on.

The Ritz-Carlton in Uptown has apologized for any "misunderstanding" a CIAA service charge instituted while the tournament was in town might have caused. The hotel says it did not intend "to single out any particular group or organization."

The University of Oklahoma's chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been shut down after a video surfaced showing the fraternity chanting racial slurs on their way to a party. The president of the university has given those students until midnight to get the hell off campus (my emphasis, not his).

Scary: Terrorist group Boko Haram announced its allegiance to ISIS in an audio statement.
