First Drip (3/20/15): Another debate of religious freedom vs. public policy in NC Senate, more

The N.C. Senate: Magistrates could recuse themselves from performing marriages if they feel their religious beliefs are being violated, but parents can't use that same excuse to exempt their children from vaccinations. OK then. Senate Bill 346, which "sponsors said the bill would bring North Carolina law up to current standards," was introduced yesterday.

According to a new report, Charlotte works too damn hard. The average work week is 43 hours and 50 minutes, plus an additional average commute of three hours and 45 minutes.

A black man was found hanging from a tree in Mississippi. "Authorities believe the man is Otis Byrd, 54, a convicted murderer out of prison on parole, but an autopsy is being performed to confirm the identity and cause of death." What year is it again?

Oh, it's 2015. A University of Virginia student, also black, who suffered a gash to his head when three ABC police officers took him down and charged him with public intoxication and obstruction of justice did not have a fake ID, as the officers suspected. "As the officers held me down, one thought raced through my mind: how could this happen? My head lay bloody, but unbowed,” Martrese Johnson wrote in a statement read by his lawyer yesterday.
