We've all seen the media reports of what's happening in Baltimore. We've watched the video clip from Charleston. We followed along with the live updates from Ferguson. Something's happening in America.
For most people, our conversations about whatever that something is are usually limited to social media. We like our friends' statuses and argue with faceless strangers who probably won't ever see our side of things.
That's why we've put together this online form, with the intention of running your answers in a future issue of Creative Loafing. We want to hear what Charlotteans think about the current state of race relations in the country. It's an uncomfortable topic for some to analyze; it's infuriating for others.
The goal of this, though, is to publish as many varying opinions as we can, and hope that your honest thoughts get people talking more. Because it is our belief that in addition to being angry about the injustices of the world, we should be analyzing why these things are happening and pushing for change.
We would love for you to share your real name with your comment, but understand that for some folks, being honest could affect their livelihoods. If it's a matter of fear, though, of how your friends will react, we'd like to challenge you to push through the discomfort.
