First Drip (4/30/15): Duke Energy to put in coal ash landfills, more

On Tuesday morning, a woman was killed when police believe a man she knew set her East Charlotte house on fire. The man died later at the hospital. But more details have now been released, including a 911 recording that reveals police came out to the home just hours earlier when Tamika McClelland called to say someone was banging on her window in the middle of the night. It was Halim Stovall, the man police suspect came back later, kicked in the door and assaulted McClelland.

Duke Energy has announced it will build coal ash land fills at its Dan River Steam Station Plant in Eden (where the big spill happened last year) and the Sutton plant in Wilmington.

Lions and tigers and bears, hell no -- the N.C. House passed a bill that would prevent private citizens from owning "dangerous wild animals." Legislators were introducing and approving bills late into the night in order to make the crossover deadline.

Miracles do happen. A teenage boy was pulled from the earthquake rubble in Kathmandu after being trapped between two floors for five days.

But many residents are getting frustrated with the slow progress of relief. "We will die if there is no help from the government or other organisations," Dhan Bahadur Shresta, a resident of Deupur Sipaghat Kavre village, told BBC. "We will starve to death and could get diseases like cholera and dysentery and there could be an epidemic."
