First Drip (5/15/15): Ferrell family gets $2.25 million in civil settlement, more

The City of Charlotte agreed to settle the wrongful death civil lawsuit with the family of Jonathan Ferrell, the 24-year-old who was shot 10 times and killed by CMPD officer Randall Kerrick. The amount to be paid out is three times the sum of the last settlement the city worked out in a police-related shooting: $2.25 million. The criminal trial is set to begin in July.

According to data compiled by the AFL-CIO, CEOs in North Carolina make 289 times as much as the average worker.

Earlier this week a Marine helicopter delivering aid to Nepal earthquake victims went missing. Today, the helicopter was discovered about eight miles from Charikot, Nepal, and it's likely there are no survivors.

Legendary blues singer B.B. King died last night in his sleep.
