Things to do for Valentine's Day 2016 in Charlotte

Don't know what you're doing yet for Valentine's Day? Here are a list of suggestions for both couples and single folks. Since V-Day falls on a Sunday this year, we've also listed other events that are happening on Friday and Saturday.

Friday, Feb. 12
Charlotte Symphony: A Symphonic Valentine at Knight Theater Conductor Albert-George Schram and the Charlotte Symphony present a variety of romantic selections for Valentine's Day. Sealed with a Kiss at Duke Energy Theater Carolina Voices presents its second annual Valentines performance. The interactive kiss-themed concert, complete with sweet treats and a “kiss” cam, features special guests who will be joining the group to perform tunes like “This Kiss,” “Our Lips are Sealed,” “Kiss the Girl,” “Lips Are Movin’,” “Na Na Hey Hey, Kiss Him Goodbye” and more. $10-$20. Innovative Works at Patricia McBride & Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance For this year's Innovative Works, presented by Charlotte Ballet, Sasha Janes has created choreography to the music of Jeff Buckley and Mark Diamond and draws inspiration from Japanese Taiko drumming. There will also be new works by David Ingram and Dwight Rhoden. Dessert and coffee with the dancers and artistic staff following the show. $25 and up. Matilda the Musical at Belk Theater Just admit it: Roald Dahl's Matilda was the kind of prankster we all wish we could have been as a child. Her telekinetic powers made us stare as glasses of water far longer than we should have and we'd have loved to skip some grades along the way. 24th Annual Johnson Valentine Bash at Snug Harbor Hardcore Lounge will be headlining along with openers that include The Face Face Band and Heart of a Ghost. The band will present a history of American film music through the decades, from the silent era through today.The highlight will be a presentation of the Donald Hunsberger arrangement of the Star Wars Trilogy, composed by John Williams. Brunch with Benefits: Cupcake Wars at RuRu's Tacos & Tequila Taste cupcakes from local bakeries and bakers, as they compete to take home the title of "Best Cupcake Creator in the Q.C." There will also be $2 mimosas, $2.50 domestic bottles, $5 craft cocktails and half-off appetizers. Proceeds raised from the event will go to South of the Bully, which helps to save pit bulls in the Charlotte area. Donations appreciated. A Meal Made with Love at BLT Steak Charlotte The meal kicks off with aphrodisiac Kumamoto oysters with soy-lime vinaigrette or lobster and ricotta tortellini with basil pesto and watercress.
