TRAMPLED BY TURTLES Some members of Trampled by Turtles are refugees from indie and punk bands, so their bluegrass-laden Americana has a teeth-gritting fervor to it. The roots music outfit from the frozen climes of Duluth, Minn., fuses bluegrass, jug band and acoustic punk, with hell-bent fiddler, strummers and pickers, into rambunctious American music. The quintet is touring in support of its new recording, Palomino. With the Infamous String Dusters. $14-$16, Visulite Theatre, www.visulite.com

GHOST TOWN REVELRY The Charlotte quartet has been quietly evolving its sound since its inception a couple of years ago. Self-described as psychedelic space cowboy rock, translate that as swirling guitars and keyboards, touched with psychedelia, just the right amount of effects, funky bass, country and pop. Their genteel rock, with generally cohesive writing, is showcased in this CD release gig for their freshly pressed eight-song disc, Phasmatis Apparatus. With Bridges & Powerlines. $5, The Evening Muse, www.theeveningmuse.com
