311 will play The Fillmore Charlotte on Oct. 29. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 20.
Stone Temple Pilots are coming to the Road Runner Mobile Amphitheatre on Oct. 6. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will open. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 20.
I'm heading up to the Windy City to cover Lollapalooza 2010 in Chicago this weekend. The three-day festival is now in a single location, for all-day music.
Having been to Bonnaroo for the last four years and checking out Voodoo Fest last year in New Orleans, I'm curious to see how Lollapalooza stacks up. I remember going to Lolla the first few years back in the early '90s when it was headlined by Jane's Addiction, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Alice in Chains.
This year, the headliners are Lady Gaga, Green Day and a reunited Soundgarden. It should be interesting, to say the least.
Much like the coverage at those other festivals, I'll be posting daily blogs here and sending out Twitter messages to let you know what's going on.
As for the bands I'm hoping to check out here's a few:
Stone Temple Pilots have listed an Oct. 6 date at Road Runner Mobile Amphitheatre on their tour schedule for this fall. No word on ticket sales yet.
Nas and Damian Marley will be coming to the Fillmore Charlotte, in support of their Distant Relatives album, on Aug. 24. Tickets go on sale on Friday, July 30.
Ed Kowalczyk of Live will be performing at Amos' Southend on Saturday, Sept. 28. Tickets for the 16 and up show are $25 in advance and $28 on the day of show.
Drive-By Truckers will play The Fillmore Charlotte on Halloween night Sunday October 31.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. that night for a costume contest prior to the show. The winner will receive a six-month pass to any concert at The Fillmore Charlotte.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow, July 21, at 10 a.m. via LiveNation.com, The Fillmore Charlotte Box office, Ticketmaster or charge by phone (800) 745-3000.
Live Nation has announced it will offer $10 tickets to select shows from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20. Tickets will be available at livenation.com, the venue box offices, Ticketmaster or charge by phone at (800) 745-3000.

The rescheduled date for 30 Seconds to Mars, who had to cancel an earlier Charlotte show date "due to illness," is now set for Oct. 13 at The Fillmore Charlotte.
Opening bands are Neon Trees and New Politics.
Rodrigo y Gabriela will perform at The Fillmore Charlotte on Oct. 16. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 23, at 10 a.m.
The duo has been performing together for more than 15 years and bring their heavy metal backgrounds into an instrumental, acoustic format. It's impressive to watch as Gabriela Quintero will flick and hit her guitar to create more of a percussion style while Rodrigo Sanchez usually takes the lead.
At Bonnaroo in 2007, the duo quickly established a large crowd for their late-night set as passersby continually asked me, "Who is this? They're amazing!" Few left after hearing their music ring out.
The next time around, the duo was on Bonnaroo's main stage.
Check them out on an original song, "Tamacun":
