Record Store Day is Saturday

Posted By on Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 3:16 PM

Record Store Day is on Saturday, April 18, and you can find a lot going on around town in coordination with it. Manifest has a handful of deals, in addition to some bands performing — Gordon Roque, Blanco Diablo, Tower of Power, State of Man, Ryan Hamner, Jem Crossland and Psythe — starting at noon.

We should also note that Manifest has more than 150 of the last copies of our latest Homebrew CD to give away tomorrow as we get ready for the next one.

Lunchbox Records also has a helluva lot of deals and new albums coming out. Check out the long, long, long list of them all here. You may be able to get a Homebrew disc over there, too, if they have any left.

So, take a day off from downloading and go support some of your local merchants.

Music Frenzy Festival cancelled?

Posted By on Tue, Apr 14, 2009 at 3:19 PM

According to one post by Simplified, the Music Frenzy Festival scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at Dixies Tavern has been cancelled:

"If you haven't already heard THE PROMOTERS of THE MUSIC FRENZY FESTIVAL had to cancel/postpone the event Saturday due to business issues with the owners of the parking lot that the festival was being held at. We appreciate all of our fans that were planning on coming out to support us at the festival. Please spread the word that this entire event will not be taking place to anyone you know that was planning on attending! We look forward to seeing you soon!"

If you go to the official Web site, it says the "event has moved," but no location is given.

Stay tuned...

Blue Dogs have been added to the Alive After Five schedule, giving a space for a non-cover band. Nice!

They'll be at the Epicentre on July 23.
