A registered sex offender is facing rape charges after he allegedly beat and sexually assaulted a woman in the woods near North Graham Street Wednesday.
The Charlotte Observer reports:
Jason Lamont Miller, 38, has been charged with two counts of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and communicating threats. Police say additional charges could be filed against him after the District Attorney’s office reviews the case. The rape was the second sexual assault reported in the area in three days. Police haven't identified Miller as a suspect in that case, though a police spokesman said detectives routinely look at a large swath of open cases when a rape suspect is arrested.
According to the NC Department of Health and Human Services, in North Carolina 1 in 5 women have been sexually assaulted at some point in their lives.

Rodell Vereen, the South Carolina man who was convicted of having sex with a neighbor's horse, had better go to the doctor.
A recent study shows that men who have sex with animals are twice as likely to develop penile cancer.
Men who had sex with animals also reported a higher incidence of sexually transmitted diseases.Of the 118 penile cancer patients, 45 percent reported having sex with animals, compared with 32 percent of healthy men, who visited the medical centers for benign conditions, check-ups or cancer prevention. Fifty-nine percent of men who had sex with animals did so for one to five years, while 21 percent continued the behavior, also known as zoophilia, for more than five years. The subjects reported a variety of frequencies for their sex acts, ranging from monthly to daily.
OK, that's just plain gross.
Our newest nightlife blogger Megan Henshall checked out the recently opened Daisy Dooks (3049 Scott Futrell Drive), which hosts its grand opening this weekend.
She writes:
Speaking of exposing your eyeballs to things, Daisy Dooks is the new luxury cruise ship of strip clubs that recently opened near the airport. It’s gone and happened, the mega strip club from the Midwest has arrived in Charlotte. Apparently Iowa knows three things: livestock, corn, and the art of the titty bar. All 2,500 (maximum capacity of over 1,400) square feet is dripping with excess in the best possible way....
All in, the space can accommodate over 100 dancers, and on peak nights, you will currently find upwards of 50 lovelies twerking it at a time. In case you haven’t yet done that math, that comes to roughly 100 boobs.
